IowaWatch has won a two-year $25,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Local Media Initiative that will help IowaWatch build audience engagement in the news its covers. This grant will help build a financially sustainable system of providing non-profit, online news in Iowa that has impact on communities. The grant will be paid in one-year increments of $12,500 each.
IowaWatch aims to be able to sustain itself while producing the same high quality content that engages Iowans in important discussions that affect them. Through grants such as these IowaWatch is able to continue these efforts.
Knight Local Media Initiative grants exist to give local, non-profit online news organizations additional operating support and strategic investment toward sustainability and journalistic excellence. IowaWatch won this grant with assistance from the Investigative News Network, of which it is a member.
IowaWatch is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit and non-partisan journalistic program dedicated to producing high quality investigative journalism in Iowa while training journalism students on this work at a high, ethical level.
