In February, we launched our first audience survey and kept it open for five weeks – and your feedback is already shaping what comes next.
While the sample size (124) is not enough to be fully representative of our readership base, these responses reflect some of our most engaged readers – many with deep roots in agriculture, rural communities and food systems.
Here’s a breakdown of who you are and where you live.
In one of the questions, we asked you to choose up to three topics that matter most. Here’s what stood out.
You also shared dozens of story ideas: from land grabs and manure runoff to mental health, chemical exposure, and climate shifts.
You told us you value our investigative reporting and data visualizations and you want more in-depth explainers on ag policy. You also want more transparency into how we do our work. And more ways to engage with us directly.
So we’re building that. In the months ahead, we’ll roll out behind-the-scenes insights for our members and host live panel discussions that dig deeper into core issues we cover.
Don’t see yourself reflected here? We recognize that some priorities, like tariffs, weren’t included as response options but likely would’ve ranked high. With new global tensions, trade policy is quickly becoming a top concern in agriculture.
That said, every perspective counts. If you have ideas for where we should look next, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thanks for reading, sharing, and trusting us with your time.
