In a year-long investigation, The Kansas City Star found a beef industry with hidden health hazards.
While industry officials maintain that beef is safer than ever, reporter Mike McGraw and Kansas City Star reporters analyzed data and studied thousands of documents, studies,
lawsuits, government audits and research reporters obtained through a dozen state and federal Freedom of Information Action requests.
The resulting project is a three-part series published this week.
