Iowa has some of the oldest and broadest laws favoring free information and open government, but sometimes those laws aren’t followed. We’ll talk with those charged with keeping the information flowing.

“Violations of the law occur more through ignorance of the law than through deliberate attempts to violate the law. So I think a focus on training, a continuous focus on training — because there is turnover in a lot of these government agencies and on local boards and commissions — is important,” said Kathleen Richardson executive director of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council.
