KRUU, the solar-powered radio station, has been running a fascinating green energy series called “Dream Green” that is taking listeners all over Iowa to learn about some of the latest practices inrenewable energy.
With America’s dependence on fossil fuels and foreign energy sources front and center in public affairs policy debates today, co-hosts Stuart Tanner and James Moore are taking their audiences to places where people are finding new, energy saving ways to do business and go about their daily lives. They’ve traveled from a lakeside at George Wyth State Park where solar-powered boats hum instead of roar to a manufacturing company in Ames that makes a special film with fascinating uses ranging from solar tents to solar reading hats.
The first Dream Green program aired in May, and is a weekly one-hour show that plays on KRUU 100.1 FM every Thursday at 7 p.m. and is rebroadcast Mondays at 7 a.m. You can also listen live online at www.kruufm.com or access all shows at www.greeniowa.org
KRUU is an independent, non-commercial, listener-supported, low power radio station that began broadcasting from Fairfield, IA, about five year ago. Almost all of the programs are produced by some 100 volunteer hosts who create 80 shows a week.
